Leonard Frederick Krumrie, 88, of St. Joseph, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Lakeland Continuing Care Center, St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ at 3001 Veronica Drive, St. Joseph, where family will receive relatives and friends for one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at the Lincoln Township Cemetery where military honors will take place. Memorial contributions may be made to the Library of Michigan Foundation, the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan, or Animal Aid. Friends may leave there condolences at the guest book at

Leonard was born on June 21, 1923 in St. Joseph, MI to Henry and Anna (Jonatzke) Krumrie. He graduated with the class of 1941, St. Joseph High School. He married his wife, Dorothy (Schneider) Krumrie on June 14, 1946 in St. Joseph. He served his country in the U.S. Army, during WWII. He was a member of the Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Leonard owned and operated ELKAY Patterns & Models of St. Joseph. He was also formerly employed at Twin Cities Pattern Works, Star Pattern Co., and Ross Carrier. He made many of the plaque patterns for the historical memorials and park benches in downtown St. Joseph and so much more.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy, daughter, Sharon(Terry) Eichler of Bridgman, grandchildren, Stephanie (John) Guse, Matthew (Jill Winnell) Johnson, Tina and Butch Eichler, great-grandchildren Taylor & Austin Winnell and Haley Eichler. Several nieces and nephews also survive Leonard, as well as his canine companion “Penny” and a “great-grand-dog” “Casey.”
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and a brother.
