Charles Price, 93, of St. Joseph passed away Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Royalton Manor in St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 20, 2012 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2673 W. John Beers, Stevensville with Pastor Jonathan Kruschel officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville. Friends may visit from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church or Hospice at Home. Those wishing to share a memory of Charles may do so online at www.starks-menchinger.com.
Charles was born February 5, 1919 in Brookfield, IL to Henry & Adelheid (Modrow) Becker. Charles served his country during WWII in the 138th Construction Battalion Navy (CB’s) on Attu Island in Alaska from 1943 until 1945. On November 17, 1962 he married Mildred Kolberg Harris in Stevensville. Charles worked for Bendix as a Clerk for many years. He was a member of the Stevensville American Legion. Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and golfing.
Charles is survived by his wife Mildred Price of St. Joseph; daughter Sharon (Gerald) Harkness of Phoenix, NY; step-daughter Artis (Bill) Bloom of St. Joseph; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, step-son James Harris, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
