Lorraine Kennedy

Lorraine Amanda Kennedy, 93, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Caretell Inns of Lakeland. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Bernards Catholic Church, 555 East Delaware Avenue Benton Harbor, MI with Father William Jacobs officiating. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in St. Albans, Vermont. Friends may call from 1:00 to 1:30 P.M. Tuesday prior to the service at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph., and then process to the church. Memorial donations may be made to Lakeland Hospital. On October 4, 1944 she married F. Alan Kennedy M.D. in Saginaw, MI. Lorraine earned her nursing degree at Saginaw General Hospital School of Nursing, and began working with her husband. Lorraine was a devoted volunteer at Lakeland Hospital says the South Bend Tribune where they ran a story about her giving over 25000 hours of volunteer work. Lorraine is Survived by daughters Shirley (Dennis) Betts of St. Joseph, Betty Kennedy of Chicago, IL., Barbara (William, Taft) Kennedy of Dewitt, MI.; sister Shirley Rutledge of Farmington Hills, MI.; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
