Raymond's Obituary

Raymond Myers, 92, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Caretel Inns of Lakeland. A Memorial service will be held 7:00 P.M. Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Wade Panse officiating. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Raymond was born October 29, 1919 in Percy, IL to Charles & Bertha (Will) Myers. He served three years and four months, in a Navy Carrier Aircraft Service unit during WWII. On May 10, 1942 he married Anona Metz in Perryville, MO. Raymond retired from Arch Minerals in Percy IL. He was a Charter Member and Past Commander of the American Legion Post 1145 in Percy, IL. Raymond was a former Democratic Precinct Committeeman, and Civil Defense Director. He was also a member of the U.M.W.A., and of Wesley United Methodist Church in Percy, IL. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Raymond is survived by his wife Anona Myers of St. Joseph; sons Terry (Patricia) Myers of St. Joseph and Richard Myers of Stratford, Connecticut; three grandchildren Andrew (Isabella) Myers of Costa Rico, Joshua (Natalie) Myers of Denver and Karen Myers of Denver; great granddaughter Isabella Jagels. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Herman, Clyde (Blix), and Lawrence (Chick), two sisters Gladys Myers and Elsie Morris.
