Gordon E. Montey

Gordon Edward Montey, 82, of St. Joseph, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2011 at The Willows. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 2673 W. John Beers Rd. in Stevensville, with Rev. Jonathan Kruschel officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday, September 19, 2011 at Starks and Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph. Gordon was born October 3, 1928 in Benton Harbor to Emanuel and Selma (Rutz) Montey. On August 26, 1950, he married Shirley (Stromberg) in St. Joseph. Gordon worked as a welder for Clark Equipment and retired with over 29 years of service. Gordon was a loyal, devoted loving father and husband. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, stained glass, loved animals, singing in the church choir, singing songs and hymns, loved music, and spending time with his family. Gordon is survived by his wife Shirley Montey of St. Joseph; daughter Kristine (James) Reschke of Broomfield, CO; son Daniel (Laura) Montey of Coloma, MI; daughter Sandra (Michael) Fairbanks of Oakcreek, WI; son Douglas (Hilda) Montey of Coloma, MI; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Martin Montey.
