Lucille's Obituary

Lucille Agnes (Pagel) Radies, 91, of Stevensville, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2011 at Woodland Terrace in Bridgman Michigan. Lucille’s life began in Bridgman, Michigan on February 6, 1920, as the first daughter to Paul and Anna (Barfelz) Pagel. She Graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1937. On May 12, 1939 she married her love Otto Julius Radies in Benton Harbor. During WWII, Lucille worked as a riveter on airplanes in Benton Harbor. Later, she worked as a cook in the Lakeshore School District where her children attended. Lucille loved working outside in her garden, tending to her flowers and manicured lawn. Lucille especially enjoyed time spent with family as well as volunteering at Zion Church. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am Monday, September 12, 2011 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, officiated by Rev. Dan J. Smith, with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 pm on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Zion U.C.C. Church, 3001 Veronica Dr., St. Joseph, where Lucille was a life long member. Friends wishing to leave a condolence may do so online at www.starks-menchinger.com. She is survived by her daughter Carol Skeen of Grand Blanc, MI; her son Steve (Gabriele) Radies of Stevensville; three grandchildren Michelle (Bob) Davis of Davison, MI, Chad Radies of Stevensville, and Justine Radies of Oak Park, IL; two great grandchildren Lauren and Allison Davis; two sisters Marion (Walt) Mach of Freemont, OH and Dorothy Hauch of Dowagiac. She was preceded in death by her husband Otto on October 15, 1985 and two brothers Alvin Pagel and Norman Pagel.
