Kelly J. Brown, 33, of Benton Harbor passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with cremation to follow. Friends may visit from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Safe Shelter. She graduated from Battle Creek Academy in 1996 and received her bachelor’s degree from Oakland University in Rochester, MI. She worked for Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, playing tennis, walking on the beach, music, watching football with her father and being a mentor to many of her cousins. Kelly is survived by her parents Nancy and Earl Brown of Benton Harbor; brother Jackie Brown of Pontiac, MI; grandparents Jack and Barbara Sheppard of Battle Creek, MI; grandmother Lillie Bell Brown (deceased) and grandfather E.C. Brown of Lansing, MI; longtime friend Andrea Wright of St. Joseph; special cousin Nick Sheppard Miller of Las Vegas; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
