Martin's Obituary
Martin Mak, Jr., 86, of St. Joseph, passed away, Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Lakeland Continuing Care Center in St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Court & Market Streets, St. Joseph. Military Honors will be conducted by Stevensville American Legion Post 568. Cremation will follow the service with burial at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M.

Martin was born April 21, 1925 in Benton Harbor to Martin & Anna (Curven) Mak, Sr. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1943 and entered the US Army, serving his country in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Martin earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from the University of Michigan. On August 21, 1948, he married the former Agnes D. Wildeman in St. Joseph. Martin was employed by Whirlpool Corp. retiring after 43 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Stevensville American Legion Post #568 where he served for several years as Sergeant-at-Arms, VFW Post #1137, and the National Rifle Association.
Martin is survived by four grandchildren-Jason Mak of Basalt, Colorado, Andrea Mak of Hobart, IN, David Mak, Jr. & Jaqui Missik both of Michigan City, IN; 2 great-grandchildren; his brother Richard Mak of St. Joseph; and a niece Connie (Bernard) Peterson of Benton Harbor. He was preceded in death by his wife Agnes on April 24, 1995; his son David Mak, Sr. on January 10, 2010, and by siblings-Anna Goldner, Arthur Mak, Thelma Mak and Ellen Mak.
