Nathan's Obituary

Nathan Valenti, 85, of Benton Harbor, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011, at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Fr. William Jacobs Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Senior Nutrition or Hospice at Home. Mr. Valenti was born November 23, 1925 in Riverside, Michigan to Dominick and Elizabeth (Mammina). He served his country in the United States Army during World War Two from 1944 until 1946 receiving a bronze star, victory medal and a German occupation medal. On July 29, 1950 he married Ruth (Waldo) Valenti in Eau Claire. Nathan worked for Whirlpool for 38 years and was a member of the International Association of Machinists Local 1918. Mr. Valenti is survived by his two sons Victor (Rosa) Valenti of Shelby Twp., MI. and John (Cynthia) Valenti of Laingsburg MI; two daughters Susan (Michael) Single of Lachine, MI and Lori (Thomas) O’Malley of Scotts, MI; eight grandchildren Anthony Valenti, Vittoria Valenti, Dean Valenti, Megan Single, Nathan Single, Natalie Single, Kevin (Amanda) O’Malley and Kristin O’Malley, also survived by sisters Louise Hawkins of Eau Claire and Dian (Richard) Harris of Benton Harbor. In addition to his parents, Nathan was preceded in death by his wife Ruth; brother Ben Valenti and sister Mary Howard
