John Alfred Bomke, 89, of Stevensville passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 9:30 A.M. Saturday, September 10, 2011 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 2673 W. John Beers Rd., Stevensville officiated by Pastor’s Jonathan Kruschel, Gerald Schroer and Brett Ehlke with burial to follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. Visitation will take place from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-memchingher.com. John was born on December 8, 1921 to Otto and Alvina (Reichwald) Bomke in Saskatchewan, Canada. He served in the Army – Air Force and then worked as a Tool and Die Maker for Gast Manufacturing until retiring in 1984. John is survived by his wife Ruth (Klug) Bomke; a daughter Diane (Jerry) Yops of Campo, CA; two sons Donald (Janet) Bomke of Stevensville and Melvin (Grisselle Deters) Bomke of South Miami, FL; stepchildren Len Klug, Kathy Robke, Patti Buckoltz, Don Klug and Jim Klug; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a sister Elsie Greening of St. Joseph. Preceded in death by his first wife Francis Bomke, two brothers Max and Henry and a sister Lydia Popke.
