Dorothy L. Barker, 74, formerly of Baroda passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at The Willows in St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday at Stevensville United Methodist Church, 5506 Ridge Rd., with Rev. Gordon Barry officiating. Burial will follow at Ruggles Cemetery in Baroda. Friends may call from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Stevensville United Methodist Church, Great Lakes Caring Hospice or Alzheimers Association Walk to End Alzheimers. Dorothy was born September 27, 1936 in Baroda to Edward & Lavina (Harner) Critzer. She graduated from New Troy High School in 1954. On September 21, 1956, she married Ernest “Zeke” Barker in Baroda. Dorothy was employed at Meredith & Kamp Realtors in Bridgman and Stevensville, retiring in 2000 as office manager after twenty-five years. She was a member of Stevensville United Methodist Church. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren & pets, and going to garage sales.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters-Robin (Doug) Weingart of Bridgman, Kelly (Ed) Anderson of Baroda; seven grandchildren-Ryan, Jennifer, & Nicholas Weingart, Zachary Kalmer, Alana Anderson, Stephen (Krissy) Anderson, & Kristen Anderson; her great-grandson Damon Peugh; her sister Louise (Kenneth) Schultz of Lexington, KY; numerous nieces & nephews; and her faithful feline companion “Puddin”. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Zeke on May 9, 1996, and by her siblings-Leonard, Ralph, Raymond, Chester & James Critzer, Myrtle Gaul, Esther Gaul, and Marie Schutze.
