Virginia's Obituary

Virginia Marie Jaskiewicz, 93. Of St. Joseph passed away at her home on Sunday August 21, 2011. Friends may call from 5:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, with a rosary said at 7:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church officiated by Rev. James Morris and Msgr. Eugene Sears, with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Lake Michigan Catholic School. Friends wishing to leave a condolence may do so at the guest book at www.starks-menchinger.com. Virginia was born on September 25, 1917 to Frank & Stella (Szymanski) Kalka in Chicago IL. She married Edward Jaskiewicz at St. Mary's of the Angles Church in Chicago, IL, on July 29 1939. They moved to St. Joseph in 1946 and joined the St. Joseph Catholic Church and she was active in the Marian Guild. She and her husband owned and operated the Hertz rent –a-car agency in the twin cities. Her great's joy was being active with her grandchildren and working with other children as a reading grandmother. She is survived by four daughters Marcia (Vern) Shoff, Roberta (William) Wagner, Chris (Larry) Glendening and Cindy (Michael) Birk all of St. Joseph; eight grand children Colleen Roberts, Tina (Trent) Renfro, Jeff (Sonda) Wagner, Joanne (Chad) Schau, Bryan (Amber) Glendening, Allan Glendening, Amy Birk and Mitch Birk; five great grandchildren Morgan Roberts, Connor Roberts, Brady Schau, Katelyn and Allison Glendening. Proceeded in death by her husband Edward on July 31, 1991, four brothers Frank, Leonard, Edward and John Kalka and her parents.
