Henry Angelo, 79, of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Court & Market Streets., St. Joseph with Rev. Thomas Batsky officiating. Entombment will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Henry was born November 12, 1931 in Benton Harbor to Anthony & Theresa (Pica) Angelo. He and his family owned & operated Angelo’s Food Specialties first on Territorial Rd. in downtown Benton Harbor, and later, with his brother Joseph at the Fairplain Plaza. On June 25, 1977 he married the former Diane (Jinkins) Clark at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph. Henry retired in 1994 from the store and enjoyed fifteen years as a driver for Advance Limousine, retiring just last year. Henry was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Benton Harbor Moose Lodge #1570, Benton Harbor-St. Joseph Elks Lodge, FOP Lodge #100, and the Sons of Italy. He was an avid golfer, having scored three holes-in-one. Henry enjoyed sports and participated in many until he was no longer able to do so. He and the store sponsored many a soft ball team over the years. He cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Henry is survived by his wife Diane; his children-Anthony (Treasea) Angelo of Benton Harbor, Kelli (Frank) Genovese of St. Joseph Twp., Sheila (John) Miller of St. Joseph, Kraig Angelo of Buchanan; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers-Joseph Angelo of Benton Harbor, George (Muggs) Angelo of Lakeland, FL, Michael (Kerrie) Angelo of Benton Harbor; one sister Julia Nicholas of Benton Harbor; his mother-in-law Dorothy Jinkins of St. Joseph; many nieces & nephews; and friends too numerous to mention. He was preceded in death by two sons-Ricky Angelo & Lance Angelo, by a sister Rose Sobczyk, and by two brothers-Anthony & Frank Angelo.
