Ewald's Obituary

Ewald Lehmann, 82, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 3, 2011 at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, on the corner of Colfax and Kline, in Benton Harbor. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church, American Heart Association, or Lakeshore Soccer Boosters. Those wishing to share a memory of Ewald online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Ewald was born July 8, 1929 in Schwarz Damerkow Pommarn, Germany to Otto & Martha (Prien) Lehmann. Ewald and his family came to America in 1948. He served his country in the Korean War from 1951 until 1953 and was awarded two purple hearts. On November 6, 1954 he married Agatha Pahl in Benton Harbor. Ewald was a very successful owner of Wollin Products Inc. for many years. He was the biggest ambassador of soccer and a founding member of the St. Joseph Kickers Sports Club. In his spare time he enjoyed socializing, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Ewald is survived by his wife Agatha Lehmann of St. Joseph; sons Mark (Erin) Lehmann of Stevensville and Bruno Lehmann of Stevensville; five grandchildren Jason, A.J., Paul, Katie, and Daniel; brother Siegfried (Hildegard) Lehmann of Stevensville; brother-in-law Bruno Paul of Benton Harbor; Ewald was preceded in death by his parents, sister Edith Manzke, brother-in-law Erich Manzke and brother and sister-in-law Erwin and Lydia Reinhardt.
