Anthony Tony Mason

Anthony “Tony” Mason, 75, of St. Joseph passed away, Monday, July 11, 2011 at his home. Tony was born on June 3, 1936 in Niles, MI, to Eugene and Josephine (Goins) Mason. He was employed with Whirlpool for 40 years becoming their Director of International Engineering. With many Patents to his credit Tony was instrumental for Whirlpool becoming the world's leading appliance manufacturer. There was nothing Tony could not figure out or re-engineer better. He was a proud member of the Whirlpool Eagles and the St. Joseph – Benton Harbor Elks. In his spare time he collected vintage cars, enjoyed playing golf, meeting friends at the Navajo Restaurant, traveling the world, working on his clock collection and going to Florida during the winter months to spend time with his many friends & family. Tony also was very proud of his grand kids which he enjoyed spending time with. Tony’s sense of humor and giving heart will be deeply missed by everyone. Tony is survived by wife Sharon of St. Joseph; sons Martin (Sandra) Mason of Stevensville, Michael Mason of Granger; grandchildren Anthony and Christopher Mason, Joseph and Justin Koehneke; special cousin Jackie (Gary) Hammond of Riverside; in laws Merle and (Sandra) Dent of Stevensville, and Jerome and (Evangeline) Metz of St. Joseph; and many other loving family members and friends. A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held privately. Friends may call from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.
