Amanda Ellyn Burgess, 24, of Stevensville died at Lakeland Region Medical Center on Monday, September 5, 2011. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Rev. Chris Peddie of Lakeside Family Church, Stevensville will lead a time of prayer at 7:30 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at St. Augustine’s of Canterbury Episcopal Church , 1753 Union St. Benton Harbor; officiated by Rev. Dan Scheid, followed by burial at Hickory Bluff Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Consequential Minds, Inc. a Benton Harbor counseling and drop-in center. Friends wishing to send a condolence may do so at the guestbook at www.starks-menchinger.com. Amanda was born on September 11, 1986 in Grand Rapids MI, to Robert & JoAnn (Radza) Burgess. She graduated from Lakeshore High School and was attending Lake Michigan College. She loved children and often tended to her friends’ kids. Her son Collin was the joy in her life. Amanda is survived by her parents Robert & JoAnn of Stevensville, a son Collin Burgess of Stevensville, a brother Matthew Burgess of Chicago, IL and many other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
