Donald's Obituary

Donald K. Mack, 76, of Stevensville, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 11:30A.M. Tuesday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel with Rev. Robert Confer officiating. Private graveside services will follow with Military Rites conducted by the North Berrien Military Rites Team. Friends may call from 10:30 until 11:30 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of SW Michigan or the Coloma Rod & Gun Club. Those wishing to sign Don's Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Don was born March 25, 1935 in Flint, Michigan to Horace & Laura (Percifield) Mack. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School, Class of 1953 and served his country in the United States Army. On December 12, 1959, he married the former Janet Cook in Benton Harbor. Don retired in 1997 as purchasing agent for Kaywood Products in Benton Harbor after twenty-eight years of service. Following retirement, Don worked at Wolf's Marine in Benton Harbor and Sweet Water Boating Supplies in New Buffalo. He was a member of Coloma Rod & Gun Club where he served as a Hunter Safety instructor. Don was also a member of the Lakeshore Jaycee's where he served as a JCI Senator, was a co-founder & coach for Lakeshore Rocket Football, and a coach for Lakeshore Little League. Don served on the Lincoln Township Parks Commission for several years. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and repairing guns. Don cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Don is survived by his wife Janet; two children-Dave Mack of Stevensville; Kelly (Tim) Flagel of Eau Claire; two grandchildren-Steven Mack & Delaney Flagel; sister-in-law Pat Mack of Tignall, Georgia, and two nephews-Christopher & John Mack, and his best friends- Jim (Jane) Dunlap of Anchorage, Alaska & Art Schneider and his family of Mackinaw City, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Robert Mack.
