Helen Geisler

Helen Dorothy Geisler, 97, of Leesburg, FL passed away May 13, 2011. A Graveside Service will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday May 21, 2011 at Spring Run Cemetery in Scottdale with Pastor Terry Schneider officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. Those wishing to share a memory online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Helen was born in Benton Harbor on November 27, 1913, daughter of Daisy Swigert and Wallace Warren. Helen graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1930 and went to business school in Indianapolis, IN. She spent her childhood in St. Joseph with her six brothers. She married Wesley Geisler on June 18, 1937 and had two children, Warren and Sandra. Helen and Wes were local entrepreneurs. They owned various area businesses including a hatchery, motel and restaurant in Scottdale and a fabric store and apartment building in Benton Harbor. They retired to Florida in 1980 where she enjoyed singing in the choir, potlucks, shuffleboard and bingo. She is survived by her son Warren Geisler, her brother Ed Warren; 6 grandchildren: Kathleen Colameta, Patricia McCauley, Jane Monahan, Meg Geisler, Drew Geisler, Jim Geisler; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased in 2004 by her husband of 67 years, Wesley; her daughter Sandra McCauley in 1989; and five brothers: Louis, Don, Bob, Dick and Joe Warren.
