Craig's Obituary

Craig George Orlando passed away with courage and grace on April 28, 2011, at his home in Benton Harbor. The cause of death was cancer. His family and friends will profoundly miss him. Craig was born on Dec. 20, 1958, in St. Joseph, Mich. A graduate of Coloma High School and Ferris State College, Craig lived in Florida and California before returning home in 1990 to care for his family and take over his father's business, Automotive Electric. Craig, an active member of the Benton Harbor Elks Lodge, was a man of many talents: a business owner, hunter, fisherman, softball player, boater and golfer. But it was Craig's wonderful sense of humor, a gift to all who knew him, for which he will be remembered best. He is survived by his wife and friend Teri Orlando; father Paul Orlando of Benton Harbor; brother Paul Orlando (Jan) of Arizona; sister Laura Orlando of Boston; daughter Paige Massey-Orlando of Coloma; three stepchildren; and many wonderful nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. His mother, Dorothy Orlando, of Benton Harbor, predeceased him. Friends may call from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2011, with an Elks service and prayer service held at 7 p.m., at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph, MI 49085. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at St. John's Catholic Church at 600 Columbus Avenue, Benton Harbor, MI 49022. The burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in Craig's memory can be made to the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan, 641 S. Crystal Ave., Benton Harbor, MI 49022 or the Morton Elementary School Activity Fund, Morton Elementary School, 267 North Hull Ave., Benton Harbor, MI 49022. Friends are invited to share a memory or sign an online guest book at www.starks-menchinger.com.
