Charlotte Gruntman

Charlotte Jonas Gruntman, 95, of Coloma, MI died at her son's home in Goshen, IN on Sunday, July 10, 2011. Arrangements have been entrusted with Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home in St. Joseph, MI. Charlotte was born May 31, 1916 in Chicago, IL to John and Louisa (Wild) Jonas, Sr. On June 1, 1935, in Benton Harbor, MI she married Frederick Gruntman. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1987. Charlotte was owner/operator of Wedding Cakes by Lottie. She was baker, decorator and taught the same. Charlotte attended Wilton School of Cake Decorating in Chicago. She collected Madame Alexander dolls and ceramic eggs. She was fantastic cook. Charlotte was a wonderful mother and especially fond of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her three sons, Douglas (Betty) Gruntman of Dearborn, MI, Dennis (Karen) Gruntman of Goshen, IN, and Donald (Pat) Gruntman of St. Joseph, MI; seven grandchildren, Sarah and Catherine Gruntman, Jeff (Laura) Gruntman, Matt (Laura) Gruntman, Tim (Alisha) Gruntman, Lori (Andy) Thompson and Donald (Heidi) Gruntman, Jr.; six great grandchildren, Dorian, Cameron, Collin, Cara, Anna and Austyn; and several nieces and nephews. Charlotte is also survived by her feline companion-Mootsie. She was preceded in death by her parents-John and Louisa, husband-Frederick, sister-Lucille Piehl, brother-John Jonas, Jr., and great granddaughter-Mackenzie Gruntman. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 15, 11:30 AM, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Final resting place will be at Coloma Cemetery, Coloma, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice At Home.
