Albert B. Schermer, 92, formally of Benton Harbor, passed away Friday, May 27, 2011 in Burr Oak, MI after a long illness.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday June 1, 2011 at Napier Parkview Baptist Church 245 W. Napier Ave., Benton Harbor with Pastor J. O. Hosler officiating. Burial will follow at the North Shore Memory Gardens. Friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Church. Memorials may be made to Napier Parkview Baptist Church or In House Hospice, 5360 Holiday Terrace Suite 24A, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Albert was born April 7, 1919 in Benton Harbor to Edward & Olga Ella (Blanke) Schermer. On July 21, 1944, he married Evelyn (Prillwitz-Woodrick) Schermer. Albert was formally employed by A.B. Morris, and later retired from Whirlpool as a printer with over 10 years of service. He was a member of the Napier Parkview Baptist Church.
Al is survived by his wife Evelyn (Prillwitz-Woodrick) Schermer, a brother Leonard Schermer; and a sister Irene (Schermer) Wesner; son Gordan Schermer; and a daughter Carol (Schermer) Brown Wright. Al's memory is treasured by his two children and their spouses, as well as by five grandchildren and their spouses and by three great-grandchildren. Children of Gordon Schermer are Amanda (Schermer) Serenevy and Cassandra (Schermer) Darnel. Children of Carol (Schermer) Brown Wright are Michael Brown, Christine (Brown) Mazei and Kim Wright. Children of Michael W. Brown are Alexandrea Hostetler and Alena Brown and the child of Kim Wright is Brienna Wright. Al is preceded in death by two sisters Edith (Schermer) Sayler and Alice (Schermer) Colantonio.
