Ambrocio Contreraz

Ambrocio Contreraz, 81, of Chicago, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, June 27, 2011 at St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday at Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ, 1200 W. Glenlord Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Kevin McLemore officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery, Stevensville. Friends may call beginning at Noon Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Research Foundation. On September 29, 1956, he married Elvira nee: De Luna in Chicago. Ambrocio was employed for forty-three years at Guttman & Co. Tanners in Chicago. He was a dedicated son, husband & father. Ambrocio was a very jovial man with a great sense of humor who always had a story to tell. He enjoyed watching classic films in his spare time. Ambrocio is survived by his wife Elvira; two sons-Ambrose (Kristy) Contreras of Wheaton, IL, Carlos Contreras of Chicago; three grandchildren-Steven A., Victoria G. & Ambrose M. Contreras; his sister Maria (Robert) Melcher of Stevensville; his brother Filiberto Contreras of Benton Harbor; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Leoncia, and two brothers Reyes & Leandro.
