Myrtle's Obituary

Myrtle Christie, 94, of Stevensville, passed away Friday, April 29, 2011 at her home at Crown Point in Stevensville. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:30 P.M. Monday, May 2, 2011 at First United Methodist Church, 3003 Leco Ct., St. Joseph with pastor Wade Panse officiating. Following a luncheon at the church burial will follow at Galien Cemetery. Friends may visit from 12:00 P.M. until 1:30 P.M. Monday at the Church. Memorials may be made to the Parish Nurse Program at First United Methodist Church or Berrien County Cancer Service. Those wishing to share a memory online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Myrtle was born October 6, 1916 in Galien, MI to Earl & Dory (Miller) Roberts. On October 10, 1936 she married Edward Christie in Galien. Myrtle was a member of the First United Methodist Church in St. Joseph and the Honeymooners Club. In her spare time she enjoyed painting, knitting, crocheting, and making baby sweaters for the Church World Service. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, music especially playing the piano and organ, was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed long walks with her husband Edward who passed away on August 5, 1983. Myrtle is survived by her sister Violet Pufall of Galien; children Robert (Jean) Christie of Portage, MI., Dora (Tom) Hubbard of Berea, KY., Carol Henning of Baroda, and Beth (David) Antosz of Baroda; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild; many care givers and special friend Julie Lester. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Geraldine and two brothers Odean & Charles.
