Malcolm's Obituary
Malcolm Cowan, 88, of Stevensville, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Royalton Manor in St. Joseph.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 11, 2011 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Inurnment will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Masonic Lodge 437. Malcolm was born July 24, 1922 in Larkhall, Scotland, to Malcolm & Henrietta (Forest) Cowan. On March 3, 1950 he married Catherine Drummond in Motherwell, Scotland. Before moving to the United States in 1964 he drove a double decker bus in Scotland. Malcolm worked for Superior Steel in Benton Harbor for many years. He was a member of the Clydesdale Masonic Lodge 551 and St. Joseph Masonic Lodge 437. Malcolm was much loved by his family as a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be dearly missed by all.
Malcolm was survived by his wife Catherine Cowan of Stevensville; three sons Malcolm (Betty) Cowan of Benton Harbor, Colin (Karen) Cowan of Berrien Springs and Andrew Cowan of Stevensville; 5 grandchildren Kristy (Robby) Saroni, Karrie (Justin) Turner, Brandon Cowan, Malcolm (Jennifer) Cowan and Jacqueline (Mark) Demski; 5 great grandchildren Lillian, Malcolm, Lauren, Bailey, Morgan and two on the way; brother John (Ada) Cowan of London, England. Malcolm was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lillian Hannah of Coventry, England and brother William of Larkhall, Scotland.
