Helen Leitz

Helen Leitz, 87, of Sodus, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Lakeland Specialty Hospital in Berrien Center due to complications with her heart. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00A.M. Monday, April 4, 2011 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church 3713 Naomi Rd. Sodus with Pastor Robert Duehlmeyer officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Sodus. Friends may visit from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Sunday April 3, 2011 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Helen was born October 2, 1923 in Leachville Arkansas to Dolph & Rosabelle (Driscoll) Smith. On December 6, 1941 she married Harold Leitz in Alexander Louisiana. Helen retired from Avion Coach in Benton Harbor for over 20 years of service. She was devoted to her family. She loved cooking and home making. Her great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She will be greatly missed by many friends and neighbors. Helen is survived by her husband Harold Leitz of Sodus; daughter Shirley (Rob) Richter of Sodus; granddaughter Mellisa (Jeff) Wendt of Baroda; grandson Mark Graham of St. Joseph; two great grandchildren Kristopher Anstiss and Chandler Graham; two sisters Corabell Brewer and Dan B Miller; and many cousins, nieces & nephews; Helen was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Erma Durbin and Laverne Burleson and brother Roe Smith.
