Robert's Obituary

Robert “Bob” Hoyt, Jr. 66, of Benton Harbor, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph. A Memorial Gathering celebrating his life will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Benton Harbor Moose Lodge #1570, 2180 Union St., Benton Harbor, with Moose Memorial Rites celebrated at 6:00 P.M. Memorial donations may be made to the family. Those wishing to sign Bob's Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Bob was born February 7, 1945 in Benton Harbor to Robert & Madeline (Brown) Hoyt. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1965. In 1966 Bob enlisted in the United States Army and served three years stationed in Germany. On February 27, 1970 he married the former Lois Geisler in St. Joseph. Bob retired in 2003 after 30 years with Benton Harbor Area Schools as a mechanic. He enjoyed his work, and in his spare time enjoyed tinkering with & fixing cars & lawnmowers at home to help others in need. There wasn't anything that he couldn't fix. Bob was a member of the Benton Harbor Moose Lodge #1570 and American Legion Post #105 in Benton Harbor. Bob is survived by his wife Lois; his children-Ted (Margaret) White of St. Paul, VA, Kim (Ray) Wilson of Lynchburg, VA, Robert (Fiancee Melissa Tittle) Hoyt, II of Stevensville; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister Judy Little of Paw Paw, MI; one aunt; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter Lillian Tittle-Hoyt in 2009, and a great grandson Austin Lee Boyd in 2010.
