Wesley's Obituary

Wesley C Knapp 79, of St. Joseph, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. February 17, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 211 Church St. with Father Jim Morris officiating, cremation to follow. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday February 16, 2011 at Starks and Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd, St. Joseph, MI. Memorials may be made to Birthright. Wesley was born on February 1, 1932 to Herbert and Nellie (Keigley) Knapp in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He graduated from St. Johns Catholic High School in 1950. He proudly served his country in Korea from 1951 to 1954. He married Catherine Black in 1952. He was past president of St. Vincent DePaul, a member or R.S.V.P. (Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol) of St. Joseph, worked in the printing industry for over 20 years, retired from Berrien County, and an avid Notre Dame fan. Wesley is survived by his wife Catherine of St. Joseph, his children; Chris (Pamela) Knapp of Oviedo Fl., Anna (Stephen) Vogt of St. Joseph, Michael (Mary Ann) Knapp of Mundelein IL., Thomas (Kathleen) Knapp of St. Joseph, Richard Knapp of Stevensville, sister Jane Dine of St. Joseph; 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Wesley is preceded in death by his daughter; Theresa A. Knapp and son John G. Knapp; brothers Walter and Dennis Knapp, and sister Eleanor A. Payovich.
