Darlene Sharpe

Benton Harbor, MI – Darlene (Murphy) Sharpe, 65, of Benton Harbor, MI, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at her home with her family at her side. A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, January 3, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 281 Martin Luther King Dr., Benton Harbor, MI. Darlene was born on July 19, 1945 in New York, NY to Ellon and Zenolia (Simmons) Murphy. She was a volunteer minister with the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, was a diligent student of the bible and assisted many in the Benton Harbor area. She had a fondness for baking, a fondness appreciated by friends and relatives throughout the country. She will be most missed for her sincere interest in others, her smiling face and positive attitude. Darlene is survived by her five sons, James (Debbie) Delaney of Tanzania, Byron (Joni) Delaney of Greenville, TX, Adrian (Michele) Delaney of Perry, IA, Matthew Sharpe of Kalamazoo, MI and Brandon (Tyeshia) Sharpe of Benton Harbor, MI and her mother, Zenolia Murphy. She is also survived by her six sisters, Carol Young, Zenobia Brown, Murriel Murphy, Sheila (Franklin) Daley, Patricia (Ken) Harper and Rita (L.C.) McClean; six brothers, Melvin Murphy, Marvin (Carla) Murphy, Curtis Murphy, Larry Murphy, Vincent (Cristy) Murphy and Tony (Ann) Murphy, ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Ellon and sister, Felicia Eddie. The family has requested that all memorial contributions be made to Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall or Berrien County Cancer Service.
