Olga's Obituary

Olga R. Johnson, 83, of St. Joseph, passed away, Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Lakeland Continuing Care Center in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Court & Market Streets, St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Berrien Center. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church. Those wishing to sign Olga's Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mrs. Johnson was born May 24, 1927 in Evanston, Illinois to Gustav & Marie (Laube) Kolm. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1945. Olga was employed at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph as a Social Work Tech, retiring in 1998 after 28 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph, where she volunteered in the office, and was a member of the Trinity Treckers Senior Group. Olga enjoyed socializing with her friends, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Olga is survived by three sons-David (Bonnie) Johnson of St. Joseph, Michael (Mary) Johnson of Benton Harbor, Jeffrey (Joan) Johnson of Buchanan; five grandchildren-Julie (Tony) Pate, Brett (Ashley) Johnson, Michelle Johnson, Jon (Tawnya) Johnson, & Marie Johnson; her great-grandson-Carson Pate; her sister Lillian Hetler of Berrien Center; her brother Edward (Barbra) Kolm of Berrien Springs; by a sister-in-law Catherine Patrick of St. Joseph; and by numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Martha Collins, and by her former husband David Johnson.
