Edward's Obituary

Edward C. Klug, 81, of St. Joseph, MI, went peacefully to be with his Lord at Lakeland Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, January 5 with his family by his side. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 404 E. Glenlord Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Glenn Rosenbaum officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville where Military Honors will take place. The visitation will be held on Friday, January 7, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home in St. Joseph, MI. 269-556-9450. Memorials can be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Bethesda Lutheran, and Berrien County Cancer Service in Edward C. Klug's name. Ed was born on July 6, 1929 to Ferdinand and Elizabeth (Wenzlaff) Klug in Benton Harbor Michigan. He attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Benton Harbor High School. He went on to serve in the US Army during the Korean War with the 31st Infantry Division, better known as the Dixie Division. On April 15, 1967 he married the former Shirley Steinke. He was co-owner of FH Klug and Sons Heating and Air Conditioning in St. Joseph for over 40 years and was employed with the business for over 60 years. He was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church in St. Joseph MI. Ed spent his life as a devoted father and husband. His family always came first. His greatest joy was family gatherings. Ed is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughters, Tami (Mike) Genovese of St. Joseph, Sharon (Carl) Warren of Stevensville, and Lisa (Jay) Ammons of Kill Devil Hills, NC, and son, Michael Klug of St. Joseph. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Mandi (Gary) Coburn, Megan Genovese, Stephen Warren and Blake Warren; great-grandchildren, Maya Layton, Drew Coburn, and Izack Coburn; sisters, Doris (George) Hultgren of Michigan City, IN, Lorraine (DW) Derfelt of Henderson, Nevada and Eleanor (Herb) Milnikel of Stevensville; aunt, Eleanor Millar and his special dog, Winnie. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Norman Klug, Martin Klug, Gerald Klug and Robert Klug, and parents Ferdinand and Elizabeth Klug.
