Robert H. “Bob†Steinke, 70, of Stevensville, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at his home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, January 3, 2011 at Christ Lutheran Church, 4333 Cleveland Ave. with Rev Philip Quardokus officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville where military Honors will take place. Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 PM Sunday January 2, 2011 at. Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd; St. Joseph, MI. Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, Hospice at Home or Berrien County Cancer Service. Bob was born on December 29, 1940 to Henry and Norma (Witkowski) Steinke in Dowagiac, Michigan. He graduated from Dowagiac Central High School and was voted farmer of the year in 1958. On November 24, 1962 Bob married the former Linda Harman. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and a member of the American Legion Post 568 in Stevensville. Bob loved hunting, camping, gardening, and woodworking as well as spending time with his children and grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Korea.
Bob is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda; his children, Darold (Pam) Steinke of Eau Claire, Dave Steinke of Bridgman, and Donna (Aaron) Arndt of Buford Georgia. Grandchildren; Christopher Steinke, Joshua Steinke, Andrew Arndt, Anthony Arndt, Avery Arndt, Austin Arndt, Megan Steinke, Alyssa Steinke, sisters; Shirley (Ed) Klug of St. Joseph, Ruth (John) Trotsky of Cedar MI., brother; Leonard Steinke of St. Joseph, Brother in law; Bill (Bev) Harman of Benton Harbor, and many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends, and faithful companion Snuggles.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
