Leola was born on April 13, 1913, to Adolph and Emma Kelm, St. Joseph, Michigan. She was the loving wife of the late Winfred W. (Doc) Nuechterlein, owner of Nuechterlein Camera Shop in downtown St. Joseph. She was the beloved mother of six children including Joan (Jerry) Seevers, Arlington Heights, Il., Carol (Robert) Jenske, Grosse Pointe Pk., Mi., Louis (Ursula) Nuechterlein, St. Joseph, Mi., Sharon (Roy, deceased) Moore, Amherst, NH., Warren (Gail) Nuechterlein, Stevensville, Mi., and Karen (Paul) Rooker, St. Joseph, Mi. Leola was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Marjorie Randall and grandson Brandon Compton.
Leola enjoyed spending most of her time with family and friends. She fondly served at both Trinity Lutheran and Christ Lutheran Church as an active member. Her faith in God was a guiding post in her life. She loved being with her family and serving their needs became her earthly purpose. Her most memorable hobbies and interests were collecting crystal, admiring the beauty of dad’s garden of flowers, her gift of baking, the joy of music, dancing to the song “Celebration†and just laboring hours in the kitchen preparing meals to entertain family and close friends. In her early years, she worked with her husband, W. W. (Doc) Nuechterlein at their downtown photography business. The Nuechterlein’s Camera Shop served the community for 64 years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Christ Lutheran School, 4333 Cleveland Ave., Stevensville, Michigan 49127. Those wishing to share a memory online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
