Ruth Getz Parnell

Ruth Getz Parnell, 95, of Benton Harbor, Michigan passed away Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Caratel Inns of Lakeland in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Friends may call beginning at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Ruth was born March 22, 1915 in Mishawaka, Indiana to Joseph & Edith (Frick) Myers. She graduated from Mishawaka High School. Ruth was member of Coloma Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, embroidery, tending to her flower & vegetable gardens and watching humming birds. Ruth is survived by her children-Robert (Ellen) Getz of Tucson, AZ, Evelyn (Don) Kroening of Benton Harbor, James (Kathy) Getz of Mishawaka, IN, Catherine (Gerald) Post of St. Joseph, Stanford (Lynn) Parnell of St. Joseph, Laura Ullig of Jacksonville, FL; twenty grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and her sister Catherine Myers of South Bend, IN. Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband Carl Getz, her second husband Kendall Parnell, and by six brothers & sisters-Joseph, George & Lawrence Myers, Lena & Martha Myers & Grace Eiler.
