Leland Bud Grieser

Leland John “Bud” Grieser Leland J. “Bud” Grieser, 83, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph. He was born on March 21, 1927, in Benton Harbor to John and Elizabeth (Zoschke) Grieser and was a resident of the area his entire life. Leland was a graduate of Benton Harbor High School and Moody Bible Institute, where he met and married the former Ruth Johnson in June of 1955 in South Bend, Indiana. Together, they had two children, Judith Ann and Gregory John, both of whom preceded him in death. Leland was employed by Richman Bros. Retail Store in Chicago; Whirlpool, Heath-Zenith; and Lakeland Regional Hospital, St. Joseph, where he retired in May of 2010. He enjoyed tending flowers at Napier Parkview Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir. He was also involved with Forgotten Man Ministries and at Oakridge Baptist Church. His God was of utmost importance to him, as were his family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, and church family. Survivors include three sisters—Lucille Grieser, Benton Harbor; Eleanor Bluschke, St. Joseph; Margaret Morton, Eau Claire; and one brother, J. Dean Grieser, Benton Harbor; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and children, he was preceded in death by a sister, Leona (Grieser) Wagner, Oak Lawn, Illinois. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Napier Parkview Baptist Church, Benton Harbor, with Pastor J.O. Hosler officiating. A Memorial Visitation will take place from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Shepherds Ministries, Union Grove, WI, and to Napier Parkview Baptist Church.
