Mary Reitz

Mary O. Reitz, 95, of St. Joseph, passed away Friday, December 17, 2010 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Noon Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Thomas Batsky officiating. Burial will follow at New Troy Cemetery. Friends may call beginning at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice at Home. She was employed for 20 years at Sanitary Cleaners in St. Joseph. On April 18, 1973 Mary married George Reitz in St. Joseph. Mary was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she participated in many activities. She enjoyed traveling to new places to see the wonders of nature. Mary is survived by her step-daughter Millie (Sam) Schultz of St. Joseph; five grandchildren-Heather (Jamie) Fitzpatrick, Troy (Ann) Schultz, Suzanne (Louis) Deliganis, Kelliann (Jerry Heil) Flores, Drake (Irma) Schrage; ten great-grandchildren; her brother Bill Strunk of St. Joseph; and her sister Edna DeMorrow of Ludington, Michigan. She was preceded by her first husband, Charles Swedenberg, her second husband George Reitz in 1984, her step-daughter Ruth Schrage in 1986, and her brother Elmer Strunk.
