Virgil's Obituary
Virgil M. Wessendorf, 90, of Eau Claire formerly of Benton Harbor passed away Friday, October 15, 2010 in the comfort of her family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Stephen Small officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at the Funeral Home. Virgil was born February 14, 1920 in Benton Harbor, MI to Forrest & Marguerite (Christensen) Shire. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1937. On September 8, 1939 she married, Albert Wessendorf Jr. in St. Joseph. Virgil worked for Heath Co. as an Administrative Assistant and retired in 1982. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, boating, golfing, dogs, and camping, visiting every state but Alaska and Hawaii. Most of all she loved spending time with family and friends.
Virgil is survived by her two daughters Shirley (John) Strawbridge of Eau Claire, MI., Jean Wessendorf of Hartford, MI; three sons Forrest Wessendorf of Eau Claire, MI., William Wessendorf of Niles, MI., and David (Rosellen) Wessendorf of Rio Rico, AZ; 17 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; sister Vera Sluys of Grand Rapids, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mildred Clark and the love of her life Albert on June 22, 2007.
