William's Obituary

William “Mo” Spink, loving husband, father & grandfather, 66, of Benton Harbor, passed away Monday, November 29, 2010 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Noon Friday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Military Rites conducted by the North Berrien Military Rites Team. Cremation will follow the service with private burial at North Shore Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home, with Tribute Rites conducted by Benton Harbor Moose Lodge #1570. Memorials may be made to Mooseheart. Those wishing to sign “Mo's” Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. “Mo” was born May 31, 1944 in Mishawaka, Indiana to Henry & Miriam (Bessinger) Spink. He served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. “Mo” was employed as a cook at Babe's Lounge & American Legion Post #105 & various other establishments in the area. On August 26, 1989, he married the former Mary Ellen Frazier in Benton Harbor. He enjoyed cooking, gun collecting, and spending time with his grandchildren. “Mo” was a member of the Elks, Moose, VFW, American Legion and several other local fraternal organizations. “Mo” is survived by his children-Edward Cottrell of Coloma, Elisa (Jason) Leon of Florida, Tommy (Agatha) Cottrell of Battle Creek, Michael Spink of New York, Amanda (Steven) Matthews of Portage, MI; nine grandchildren-Kendall, Sally & Naomi Cottrell, Victoria Easley, Zachary Reth, Madilyn & Gwendolyn Cottrell, Alexis Delgado & Rebecca Leon; his sister Kay (Jerry) Pliley of St. Joseph; his brother Dick Spink of Florida; and friends too numerous to mention. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Mary Ellen on December 12, 2008.
