David's Obituary
David Wayne Hettig, 54, of Lawrence passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly in the comfort of his home late Monday, October 4, 2010.
David was born in St. Joseph to Gerhard and Marilyn (Gosselar) Hettig. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1974 and attended a heavy machinery trade school. He had been employed at Martin Fluid Power since 1981 as Vice President of Operations.
He had two daughters, Holly, born in 1982, and April, born in 1987. On September 29, 2001, David married Vicki Peck, in St. Joseph. In January 2008, his first granddaughter, Gloria Harbin, was born. David was so excited to be a grandpa and lived every moment for her.
David was a loving husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. He loved having barbeques at his house with family, celebrating any occasion that could be celebrated. He was a man of honesty, integrity, and fairness, full of life, and his smile showed that.
David is survived by his wife, Vicki; mother, Marilyn; daughters, Holly (Rob) Harbin and April (Zach) Carson; his sister, Karen (Gary) Richardville; his brother, Keith (Betty) Hettig; several nieces and nephews; and one very special granddaughter, Gloria Grace Harbin, who was the apple of his eye.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerhard Hettig, in 2005.
