James Harrington

James “Jim” Harrington, 60, of St. Joseph, passed away Friday, November 12, 2010 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor David Colp officiating. Friends may visit Friday, November 19, 2010 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan. Those wishing to sign the memory book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Jim was born September 30, 1950 in Minneapolis, MN to Daniel & Marian (Cook) Harrington. He graduated from Hopkins High School in Minnesota and attended California Western University in Santa Ana, CA. and Burnside-Ott Aviation in Opa-locka, Florida. On August 29, 1970 he married Pamela Sandstrom in Minnetonka, MN. Jim worked for Whirlpool for 27 years, more recently as Chief Pilot. In his spare time he enjoyed his retirement home in New Mexico, traveling, reading, motorcycling and barbequing. He also enjoyed the old west and watching bull riding. He was a cowboy at heart. Jim is survived by his wife Pamela Harrington of St. Joseph, MI; two sons Ryan (wife Whitney) Harrington of Warsaw, IN and Adam (fiancée Brittany Hearn) Harrington of Round Rock, TX; daughter Danielle Harrington of Kalamazoo, MI; sister Kathleen Harrington of WI; two brothers Robert & Scott Harrington of MN. Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
