Benton Harbor, MI – Freida Cayo, 89, of Benton Harbor, MI, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 8, 2010 at Orchard Grove Nursing Home. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd. – St. Joseph, MI. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice at Home of Berrien County or Orchard Grove Activity Dept. Freida was born on August 9, 1921 in Benton Harbor, MI to Carl and Pauline (Teichman) Polashak. She married Robert Cayo on May 11, 1940 in Sodus, MI. Freida and Bob spent many winters in Florida after retirement. They enjoyed many years of camping and traveling. They enjoyed their many friends that they met through their business, Avion Coach. Freida is survived by her children, Carabeth Culby of Benton Harbor, William (Judith) Cayo of Benton Harbor and Dennis (Sharon) Cayo of East Leroy, MI, 7 grandchildren,12 great grandchildren, one step grandson, two step great grandsons and sisters, Betty Hafer of Sodus and Helen Kwast of Grand Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Pauline, husband, Robert, two brothers, three sisters and son-in-law, Frank Culby.
