Barbara's Obituary
Barbara Jean Stroshein, 70, of St. Joseph, went home to meet her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, on Friday, August 27, 2010, at Royalton Manor in St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 11:30 A.M. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Court & Market St., St. Joseph, with Rev. Michael Roth & Rev. Thomas Batsky officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may call from 5:00 til 8:00 P.M. Monday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Barbara was born January 1, 1940, the first baby of the New Year in Berrien County to Harvey & Elsie (Bandurski) Stroshein. She grew up on Silver Beach and was proud to be a “Sand Rabbitâ€. Barbara graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1958 and from Western Michigan University in 1962. She was employed as a Second Grade Teacher for Watervliet Public Schools, retiring in 1979. Barbara was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph. She enjoyed family vacations visiting various National Parks & Landmarks; animals, cooking, reading, and especially crafts-Cross Stitch, Macreme, Needlepoint, String Art, and Crewl Embroidery.
Barbara is survived by her mother Elsie Stroshein of St. Joseph; her sister Sharon Tescallo of Stevensville; and her niece Kimberly Tescallo (James Baney) of St. Joseph. She was preceded in death by her father Harvey in 1980, her infant sister-Sandra Stroshein in 1939, and her brother-in-law John G. Tescallo in 1985.
