Amos's Obituary

Amos “Pete” Peterson, 88, of Fort Wayne, IN and formerly of Stevensville, MI passed away at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, IN on Tuesday, November 9, 2010. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Friday, at North Shore Memory Gardens, 5027 M-63 North, Coloma, MI. Pete was born July 12, 1922 in Oakland, CA to Amos and Margaret Peterson. He joined the Navy at 19 and retired in 1961. On September 24, 1949 in Michigan City, IN, Pete married Albertus “Bert” Pekarski and together they had two children. Pete worked at Benton Harbor Engineering for many years and loved bartending at the Welcome Inn in his spare time. He loved gardening, music and vacationing in Hawaii overlooking Diamond Head. Pete is survived by his two children – daughter, Patricia (Joe) Yelle of Pawtucket, RI and son, Joel (Leslie) of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Charste (Jeff) Daugherty of Fort Wayne and Kylie Peterson of Indianapolis; and great grandchild Arianna Daugherty. Pete is also survived by his dog, “big girl buddy” Angie who has been his constant companion. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Albertus “Bert” in 2005.
