Vivian J. Monroe

Vivian J. Monroe, 81, of Benton Harbor, passed away Wednesday, August 04, 2010 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Dean Pickett officiating. Friends may call one hour prior beginning at 10:00 A.M. Mrs. Monroe was born November 25, 1928 in St. Joseph to Simon & Elizabeth (Muff) Imler. She was employed as a hostess at the former Holly's Restaurant in St. Joseph for many years. On November 2, 1968, she married Clifford Monroe in Lansing, Michigan where they resided for many years. She and Clifford moved back to Benton Harbor in 1995 and rejoined the First Church of the Nazarene where she was a long-time member. Vivian is survived by her husband Clifford; her daughter Carolyn Douglas of Benton Harbor; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her brother Robert Imler of Scottdale, MI. She was preceded in death by her son Fred Jones in 2006, two brothers & two sisters.
