Staff Sgt. Chad Michael Post, 32, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2010 in Port Huron.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 13, 2010 at Starks & Menchinger, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Father William Jacobs, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Garden in Coloma. Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home. Chad was born on January 6, 1978 to James & Cathy (Shindeldecker) Post in St. Joseph, Michigan. He was a 1996 graduate of St. Joseph High School, and then later attended Lake Michigan College and Western Michigan University. In 1999 Chad joined the United States Army, where he served in Kosovo and Iraq. After returning to the states, he was an Army recruiter for the past 2 ?1/2 years in Port Huron, Michigan. Chad loved sports, hunting and fishing and going to the beach.
His military schooling included Warrior Leader Course, Combat Lifesavers Course, Small Arms Maintenance and Recruiting School. He served two tours in Iraq and one in Kosovo. His list of accomplishments and awards included, Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Non-Commission Officer Ribbon, Driver- Mechanic Badge, Recruiting Badge W/3 stars, NATO Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, three Army Good Conduct Medals, two Overseas Service Ribbons, two Army Commendation Medals, seven Army Achievement Medals, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
He is survived by his parents and brother, Ryan (Anna) Post, niece Ragan, Grandmother Marcie Shindeldecker, cousin Scott (Kelly) Koualasa, and his Fiancé Laura Daugherty, along with many Aunts and Uncles, Cousins, and lots of friends who meant a lot to Chad, especially Chris Allegretti, Lars (Jill) Olson, John Lamore, & Skip.
Chad was preceded in death by his grandparents & great-grandparents.
