Helyn Wutzke

STEVENSVILLE – Helyn Evelyn Wutzke, 88, of Stevensville, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2010, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. A visitation celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (a eulogy will be given at 5:30 p.m.) at Starks and Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Helyn was born March 28, 1922 in New Buffalo, MI to Emil and Mary (Vojta) Michalski. She married Ray E. Wutzke on December 12, 1953 in Stevensville. Since Helyn never drove, many people may remember her for riding her bicycle around the Stevensville area. She enjoyed working with plants and flowers in her yard and belonged to a garden club for years. She loved her cat, Goofus, whom she had for 18 years. Helyn assisted her husband, Raymond and son, Kirk in their family business for many years. Helyn is survived by her son, Kirk (Janice) Wutzke of Stevensville, niece Caprice Behner and brother-in-law, George Behner. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray on July 16, 2004, her parents, Emil and Mary and her sister, Bertha Behner.
