Gina L. Urban

Gina L. Urban, 59, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. Funeral services will be held 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at First Assembly of God, 3084 Niles Rd, St. Joseph with pastor Dan Miller officiating. A private burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to First Assembly of God. A “Celebration of Life” reception will be held at the Five O' Clock Sports Bar and Restaurant at 5000 Red Arrow Highway, Stevensville, on Wednesday evening (July 28). Your presence is welcomed anytime between 5:30 and 8:00 P.M. This will be a casual event and a light dinner will be served. Gina was born October 6, 1950 in Bremen, IN, to Arthur & Lorna (Nifong) Cooksey. Gina graduated from LaPorte High School in 1969 and Purdue University in 1973. On May 19, 1973 she married Gil Urban in LaPorte, IN. Gina worked as a science teacher for Lakeshore Middle School for 17 years. She was a board member of the Lakeshore Excellence Foundation and a member at First Assembly of God. She enjoyed spending time with her family & friends, celebrating the Christmas holiday, and traveling to the Caribbean. Gina will be most remembered for loving to help people and seeing the good in everyone. Gina was survived by her husband Gilbert Urban of St. Joseph, MI; son Zac (Lori) Urban of Berkley, MI; daughter Brittany (Michael) Lovelace of St. Joseph, MI; granddaughter Isabella Lovelace; mother Lorna Cooksey of LaPorte, IN; three sisters Janet (Jack) Kenyon of New Carlisle, IN, Peggy (Jerry) Rose of Rolling Prairie, IN, and Joni (Wilbur) Peak of Elhkart, IN; sister-in-law Yvonne Stewart of Fenton, MO. Gina was preceded in death by her father Arthur Cooksey and grandparents Walter O. & Lavon Nifong.
