Elaine M. Hart

Elaine M. Hart, 74, of Benton Harbor, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010 at her home after a long courageous battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 12, 2010 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home 2650 Niles Rd. in St. Joseph with pastor Dan Scheid officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Sodus. Friends may visit from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Sunday, July 11, 2010 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home. Those wishing to sign the memory book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Elaine was born in Ludington, Michigan on May 13, 1936 to Melven & Ellen (Olman) Hansen. On November 12, 1988 she married Delbert Hart in Berrien Springs. Elaine and her husband Delbert owned Plaza Citgo for many years, where she was known as mom to many. She also held many levels at the local 1570 Women of the Moose lodge for over 40 years. Elaine loved to go R.V. Camping and spend time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Mrs. Arthur (Mary) Schadler, Sr., of Stevensville, Daughter Katherine Myatt of Buchanan, Michigan, Son Kenneth (Skip) Myatt of Buchanan, Michigan, Step Sons Mike Hart and Greg Hart, both of Benton Harbor, Michigan; grandchildren, Arthur Schadler, Jr., Keith Schadler, Rebecca Beregsasy, Brandy Myatt, Kelly Myatt, Aharon Myatt, Kendra Myatt, Stacy Myatt, John Myatt, Nick Myatt, Jason Hart, and Lily Hart. Elaine also had the joy of 10 great-grandchildren; brother James (Joann) Hansen of IN; two sisters Helen Iden of TN and Donna Melson of IN. She was preceded in death by her parents and son's Andrew & Carl.
