Robert Francis Lahiff

Robert Francis Lahiff, 90, of Stevensville passed away Wednesday June 9, 2010 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, MI. A memorial service will take place at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville on Saturday June 26, at 11:00 AM. Those wishing to sign the Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. In lieu of flowers, the family supports donations made in Robert's honor to the University of Michigan, Alzheimer's Research Department, in care of Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home. Robert was born on May 1, 1920 to William H. & Selma (Polster) Lahiff in Milwaukee, WI. He lived with foster families in South Dakota and Wisconsin. After high school graduation in Sevastopol, WI he worked his way through the University of Wisconsin earning a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering; and worked for General Motors Corp. for 30 years. In retirement he formed a company that successfully rehabbed buildings for 10 years. Robert married the love of his life Betty Nell (Howe) Lahiff on September 11, 1943, and was always so proud of her, their daughter, son – in – law and grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter Linda Blackmer, son-in-law Gordie Blackmer and grandchildren Jason D. and Lane E. Blackmer, sister – In – laws, Delores Swart, Virginia Jarosch, Genieva Lahiff; brother-in-law, Robert Swart and many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his wife Betty Lahiff, parents William and Selma Lahiff, and brother Edwin Lahiff.
