Herbert Esnault, 82, of Benton Harbor, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Jevonne Stevens officiating. Private burial will follow on Monday at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan. Friends may visit beginning at 1:00 Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Esnault was born May 5, 1928 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Curtis & Frances Esnault. Herbert served his country in the United States Army and Air Force. He retired from Gast Manufacturing in Benton Harbor in 1976. On May 13, 1976, he married the former Leola (Jacobs) Knight in Benton Harbor. Herbert was a member of the Kingdom Hall, and enjoyed fishing & playing dominos.
Mr. Esnault is survived by his wife Leola; five step-daughters-Linda (Eugene) Moore of Little Rock, AR, Dorothy King of Kalamazoo, Louise (Willie) Love & Mary Ann (Charles) Stevens, Sr. of Benton Harbor, Betty Allen of Houston, TX; three step-sons-Jimmie (Earnestine) Knight & Arthur (Kimberly) Knight of Benton Harbor, David (Valerie) Knight of Charlotte, NC; twenty-eight grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister Rose Droney of Chicago; and a host of nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by a step-son Edmond Rone in 1999, and by fourteen brothers & sisters.
