Eugene V. Winans

Eugene V. (Gene) Winans, 77, of Watervliet, passed away Saturday July 10, 2010 at home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at The Chapel, 4250 Washington Ave., St. Joseph, with Rev. Philip Bubar officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Gardens. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Gene was born December 2, 1932 in Sodus, MI, to Fred & Loretta (Parshall) Winans. Gene served his country for the 5th Regimental Combat Team in the United States Army during the Korean War. On August 16, 1955 he married Mary Jo Dienes at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Watervliet. Gene worked as a welder for Clark Equipment & B&B Trucking for many years. In his spare time he enjoyed humming birds, his dog daisy and spending time at his cabin in Baldwin, MI. But most of all he loved spending time with family and friends especially his grandchildren & great grandchildren. Gene is survived by his children Wayne E. Winans, Julie A. (James) Zucker, Daniel L. Winans, Gregory M. (Linda) Winans, Patrick G. (Amy) Winans; grandchildren Kimberly (Troy) Nelson, Andrew (Julie) Winans, Sara Mellinger, James Zucker, Tiffany (Danny Simpson) Winans, Jordan (Olivia) Winans, Analyse Winans, Joshua Zucker, Tabitha Winans, Jacob Winans, Lindsey Winans, Emilea Winans, Lucas Winans, Tina (Steve) Ramsey, Nicholas Jaeger; great-grandchildren Brendan Nelson, Austin Nelson, Megan Nelson, Hailie Tarantino, Hannah Mellinger, Carter Boyer, Claire Winans, Jacob McKinney, Jackson Winans, Collyn Simpson, Drew Winans, Kiera Ramsey and Kyle Ramsey; brothers Fred (Barbara) Winans and Don (Mattie) Winans; sisters Darlene (Don) Horton & Phyllis Kling. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers Larry & Duane Winans.
